SUMMARY:3D Sculptural Mosaic Flower Workshop
DESCRIPTION:  \nSculptural Flower – Sunflower \nDuring this three-day workshop\, you will learn a variety of skills and techniques to create your very own 3D Sculptural Mosaic Flower. We will begin by creating carved\, highly textured clay tiles which will be fired overnight to be included in your mosaic in the following days. Next\, you will learn how to use power tools to cut and shape the wedi board base\, how to prepare your piece to be weatherproof and how to prepare it for adding your mosaic. You will also learn how to create the structure necessary to eventually hang your creation on a wall or mount it on a pole. Designs for your piece will be discussed ahead of the workshop\, and on day two the design will be transferred to your wedi board\, including the clay tiles you created on day one. Finally\, you’ll have the freedom to create your mosaic using everything from the custom clay tiles you created on day one to stained glass\, mirror pieces\, glass gems and much more. Mixing and coloring grout will be demonstrated\, but as this is a large project\, the mosaic and grout will have to be completed on your own time or at a future open session in my studio. SUMMARY:Tempered and Textured Glass in Mosaics
DESCRIPTION:The unique properties of tempered glass make it an exciting and unique way of creating very dramatic mosaic designs. In this super fun two day workshop\, students will view many examples of tempered glass work\, learn about various ways of using tempered glass in mosaics as well as how to incorporate clear glass and textured glass as mosaic tessarae. \nDay one will be spent designing your piece. You’ll learn to create a collage using specialty papers\, foils\, ribbon\, and photos\, and the method for setting the tempered glass on the surface. You will be amazed at how three dimensional your two dimensional piece becomes! Glass cutting techniques will be taught to allow for including transparent and textured glasses with the tempered glass. Embellishments such as mirror\, ball chain\, glass gems\, and ceramic tiles will be available. \nDay two will be spent grouting. You’ll learn how to mix grout and how to add a variety of pigments to color the grout to compliment the colors in your piece. We’ll go over how to use metallic powders to add richness of color to the grout. \nTempered glass is the perfect medium for permanently incorporating things such as photos\, drawings\, words\, organic materials\, fabric\, etc. into your mosaic projects. Anything that is perfectly flat may be used. SUMMARY:Artist's Reception for San Diego Botanic Garden Sculpture Show
DESCRIPTION:I am happy to announce that my newest work\, sculptural flowers\, will be included in the 2017  San Diego Botanic Garden Sculpture show. On Sunday June 25th at 11:00\, there will be a reception for the artists. This unique exhibition showcases 53 sculptures from 32 talented artists set against the beautiful backdrop of the Garden’s lush and natural 37 acres. Curator Naomi Nussbaum Art & Design has orchestrated an eclectic exhibition ranging from functional “garden” artwork to large abstract work with an emphasis on diversity of media and scale. Enjoy meeting the artists and strolling through the garden on a self-guided tour with the Garden’s dedicated Sculpture Map.

DESCRIPTION:On Saturday June 24th from 9:00-5:00\, I will be teaching a mosaic mandala class at the Center for Creative Renewal in Cardiff\, CA. SUMMARY:Sacred Heart Mosaic
DESCRIPTION:On March 25 and 26 I’ll be teaching a combination clay/mosaic class here in my studio. You’ll be working with clay to create your own textural heart and then incorporating it into a mosaic. On day one of the class you’ll begin by creating your textural 3-D  heart in clay\, which we will quick dry\, glaze\, and fire overnight. During the remainder of the day you’ll be working on the mosaic that surrounds the heart. In addition\, you’ll learn how to cut wedi board\, how to finish the edges and how to attach a hanger. On day two you’ll add your fired heart and complete the mosaic surrounding it. Those that finish by the end of the day will be grouting. A grout kit will be given to others who might need to finish at home or you can sign up for another time to return for grouting.  Price is $250 + a $45 materials and firing fee.

DESCRIPTION:Come enjoy a relaxing day of creating mosaic art with glass. In this beginning mosaic class\, you may choose from a butterfly\, dragonfly\, seahorse\, sea turtle\, owl\, elephant\, frog or heart. You’ll use beautiful stained glass\, mirror glass\, iridescent glass\, beads\, and glass gems to create a gorgeous glass mosaic suitable for hanging outdoors or inside. You’ll learn about tools and how to use them properly\, how to cut glass\, which adhesive to use\, how to prep the substrate\, how to mix grout\, and how to hang your piece. A rainbow of glass colors will be available for you to choose from. All materials and tools will be provided. If you have things you would like to use such as special glass\, old jewelry\, beads\, old china\, or other mementos\, please feel free to bring them. At the end of the day you will have a finished piece ready to hang on a garden wall. \nI will be guiding you through the drawing and design process and I will have some templates for those who want to use my design ideas. Wear dark or old clothes\, or bring an apron as we will be using black grout. I can’t wait to meet you and to have a fun day creating mosaics! \nNo experience necessary. \n\n  \n \n

DESCRIPTION:Design to Grout in a Day In this class we’ll create a project from design to completion and at the end of the day you’ll have a gorgeous piece ready to hang on a garden wall. Choosing from a seahorse\, butterfly\, dragonfly\, fish\, owl\, mermaid\, peacock or sea turtle you’ll have a rainbow of stained glass\, mirror glass\, glass gems\, beads\, and millefiore available to you to work your magic. January 28th from 10:00-4:00. \n  \nWithdrawal Policy \nNotification of withdrawal must be sent in writing (e-mail is fine) and refunds will be made as follows less a $25 processing fee. \n100% Cash Refund – 30 or more days before the start date of the course \n100% Studio Credit – between 30 and 7 days notice before the start date of the course – credits may be used for future workshop or open studio times. Credits must be used within six months from the date of cancellation. Credits may not be used for workshops that sign-up is handled by a third party\, such as the San Diego Botanic Garden and the Fallbrook School of the Arts. \nNo refunds or credits will be given for cancellations made 7 days or less before the start date of the course. \nPlease Note: Studio credit does not guarantee you a spot in a future class\, there must be space available\, and you must contact Marsha to register and send any additional class fees. \nAll studio credits must be used within six months of time credit is issued.
