DESCRIPTION:In 2019\,  I created a series of totems\, including the monarch totem here\,  which was created for the San Diego Botanic Garden “Sculpture in the Garden” Show. In addition\, I taught classes at Hacienda Mosaico in Puerto Vallarta and at the Austin Mosaic School in Austin\, Texas on how to build your own garden totem. Both classes were very successful so I decided to teach a class for creating a mini totem for your garden. This class will be very different construction from the large totems and will be a project you can complete in a day as you will be mosaicking just the top piece. \nUsing a rock as the base\, you will have a center pole to build on and you will be mosaicking a whimsical bird\, fish\, butterfly or heart for the top using stained glass\, mirror glass\, ceramic tiles\, glass gems\, millefiori and my own  handmade tiles. This will be a lovely addition to your garden or patio. SUMMARY:Butterflies and Dragonflies for the Garden
DESCRIPTION:Come enjoy a relaxing day of creating art for your garden with friends. In this beginning mosaic class\, you‘ll be creating a butterfly or dragonfly using beautiful stained glass\, mirror glass\, iridescent glass\, beads\, and glass gems. You’ll learn about tools and how to use them properly\, how to cut glass\, which adhesive to use\, how to prep the substrate\, how to mix grout\, and how to hang your piece. A rainbow of glass colors will be available for you to choose from. All materials and tools will be provided. If you have things you would like to use such as special glass\, old jewelry\, beads\, old china\, or other mementos\, please feel free to bring them. At the end of the day you will have a finished piece ready to hang on a garden wall. \n  \n \n  \nI will be guiding you through the drawing and design process and I will have some templates for those who want to use my design ideas. Wear dark or old clothes\, or bring an apron as we will be using black grout. I can’t wait to meet you and to have a fun day creating at the garden! \n  \nSignup will be available starting on September 1 through the San Diego Botanic Garden.
